Introduction
Copyright laws provide authors with an incentive to create new works by giving them exclusive control over their creations’ use and profits for a fixed period. This guide is intended to assist researchers in locating primary and secondary materials relating to U.S. copyright law in the University of Iowa Law Library’s collections. It also includes a section on foreign, comparative, and international materials on copyright. Because this guide is selective in nature, researchers should consult with a reference librarian or search InfoHawk, the library’s online catalog, to identify additional materials that specifically address their research needs.
