Description

A major contributor to the Federalist Papers, negotiator of the controversial 1794 Jay Treaty, and a two-term governor of New York, John Jay is remembered above all as the first chief justice of the Supreme Court. Fully annotated and searchable, this XML-based archive of Jay's papers will eventually include seven volumes of documents that, by and large, have been previously unavailable for study.
