Legal Research - Online Modules: Citators

Welcome to the Citators Module!

A citator does two things: (1) it provides the subsequent treatment of a legal resource, which tells a researcher if a legal resource is still "good law"; and (2) it expands your research into new primary and secondary materials. Embrace the fact that subsequent cases might challenge your research; it can improve your argument. This Module is focused on teaching you how to:

  • understand what citators are and what services they perform for researchers; and
  • learn about the professional responsibility associated with citators.

In order to get the most out of your Citator Module experience, we recommend following these 3 easy steps:

  1. Listen & View. Watch or listen to the Citator Module video. View, download, and save the Citator Handout for use in the Citator Workshop and for future reference.
  2. Practice Your Skills. Complete the Citator Workshop
  3. Check Your Answers. Check your answers against the Workshop Key
